The Original Mililani
Mililani Town touts being the first master planned community on O’ahu. This neighborhood can also brag about being awarded the title of All-America City by the National Civic League, being the only city in the state of Hawaii to earn this award (see also https://www.nationalcivicleague.org/america-city-award/past-winners/) The older half of the Mililani Community, Mililani Town sits on the west side of the Interstate H-2 Veterans Memorial Freeway. Built on what used to be plantation fields, Mililani Town is “centrally” located on Oahu, being approximately 20 miles from Downtown Honolulu, 14 miles from Haleiwa Town on the North Shore. Homes sales started in 1968.
Regardless of which “Mililani” you live in, residents are members of the Mililani Town Association (MTA), who’s mission is to “maintain, preserve and enhance common areas and contribute to the homeowners’ quality of life.” (https://www.mililanitown.org/about-us/) 4 of the 7 MTA recreation centers are located on the town side with activities for all ages including martial arts, music, swimming, pickleball, tennis, fitness/exercise classes and even a splash park. The population of this neighborhood was approximately 27,600 per the 2010 census.

Mililani Town has 3 public elementary schools: Kipapa, Uka, Waena, and the neighborhood’s high school, Mililani High. Mililani’s public middle school is located in Mililani Mauka (https://realestateofhawaii.com/?post_type=eap-areas&p=77). There is also a private school in the community, Hanalani School: a private, Christian facility that goes from preschool to high school.

If there’s anything you need, you really don’t have to leave Mililani Town; there are 3 commercial shopping centers: Mililani Town Center, Mililani Shopping Center, and Mililani Marketplace. Combined they offer 3 big name supermarkets, Starbucks, financial institutions, CVS Longs Drugs, Walmart, a movie theater, City Mill (hardware store), California Pizza Kitchen, 24-Hour Fitness, UFC Gym, Ross, various medical services, and the list goes on. The Mililani Golf Club (http://www.mililanigolf.com/), one of the 40 golf courses on Oahu, is a beautiful, public 18-hole course that also houses the famous club house restaurant, Paliuli at Mililani Golf Club. Paliuli serves up local favorites from Kal-bi to Garlic Chicken to Lechon Kawali and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
