I remember growing up and not having a very good grasp of money. My friends and I would talk story, and wager on things and say, “What Like Bet? I bet you ONE Million Dollars I’m right! C’mon??” That number was always an unobtainable “OUT THERE” number. These days however, when you’re talking real estate in Hawaii, that number is actually not that large. In fact, the median single-family home on Oahu is not that far off from a million dollars at $883,000. So that made me think, how about we show you what you can get for a million dollars here in Hawaii, how’s that sound?

Ok so what can you buy for one million dollars in Hawaii. Well, I’m actually listing a million-dollar property right now. This is a single-family home at the top of Mililani Mauka in Central Oahu. We’re at the very top neighborhood of Mililani Mauka called Kapanoe. This home was built in 2003 and the current owner has been here for about 9 years. Besides the peacefulness of the Kapanoe neighborhood, this home is a single level home with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.  The living area is 1,700 square feet and the lot size is 5,000 square feet.

The home has nice vaulted ceilings and an open-concept kitchen that opens up to an extra-large family room, that then opens to the patio. The master bedroom has a nice large walk-in closet and the master bathroom has his and her sinks. There are also 14 photovoltaic panels that are owned, not leased and have the net energy metering agreement with Hawaiian Electric Company. I have had various comments when I tell people that this is a million-dollar home. A lot of the responses are, THIS is a million-dollar home? It is often the case that the buyers from the mainland have a little sticker shock when they compare it to how much house they can get back home. Well, I’d like to hear from you folks too. Comment below on your thoughts of this house and how it stacks up compared to what you are familiar with.

In the words of the American investor and philanthropist, Warren Buffett, “The only way to get love is to be lovable. It’s very irritating if you have a lot of money. You’d like to think you could write a check: ‘I’ll buy a million dollars’ worth of love.’ But it doesn’t work that way. The more you give love away, the more you get.” I’ll see you next week!
